2020-2021 CONSULTANT TEAMS

Each year, our clients receive consulting services from a team of 4-5 180 UBC students, consisting of a Project Manager and several Consultants and Analysts. Each team is assigned a client to work with for a period of 4 or 8 months.

Frontier College

Frontier College is a literacy organization established in 1899. Frontier College aims to improve literacy levels in Canada by providing education to those who seek assistance with their learning and have been overlooked or left behind by the formal educational system.

Project Details

The Frontier College project is helping the organization improve their volunteer onboarding process by evaluating their policies and procedures manual and analyzing human resource information systems.

HIM - Health Initiative for Men

The Health Initiative for Men Society (HIM) is a public health organization for gay and bisexual men operating in Greater Vancouver. Since 2008, HIM has offered sexual health testing, professional counselling, sexual health education and athletic/social programming for gay men.

The HIM project is helping to diversify the organization’s funding by researching target demographics and forming a fund development strategy for sustainable individual donations.

JustWork Economic Initiative

JustWork Economic Initiative is a non-profit running three social-enterprises in the Greater Vancouver Area (JustCatering, JustRenos, and JustPotters). Each enterprise offers quality goods and services and combined they provide meaningful employment to 25 people on a regular basis.

The JustWork project is helping the organization to assess its operations by comparing its practices to industry leaders and determining areas for improvement to increase profitability.

Open Primaries

Open Primaries is an organization that represents the movement that no American should be required to join a political party to exercise their right to vote. This mission is accomplished through two entities: Open Primaries Advocacy and Open Primaries Education Fund.

SOS Children’s Village

SOS Children’s Village Thrift Store Foundation (SOS BC) is a non-profit organization that provides family-based foster care for children and youth in our communities through a Village model. This includes support to caregivers, youth, and kids through residential services, program and support services, and wraparound care. Their Village consists of 5 homes that house children and their foster families. These homes provide a sense of community, connection and belonging, in a system where isolation is all too frequent.

The 180DC UBC team (the Team) analyzed the feasibility of the potential store as well as the opportunity cost of allocating resources to another store instead of fundraising and other projects.
